BIG BUILD DAY 20/03/2010
Just got a Mail from Si about up coming build day, so here it is!
Hi there,
We will be having a build day on Saturday the 20th March (next
Sat). We have big plans and have a 3.5 tonne excavator + driver (craig) confirmed
for the day. We will hopefully have a dumper truck and a truck load of hardcore
there too. We need as many people there as possible because many hands make
light work. Bring a spade, wheel barrow, and any other tools you might have.
Bring your bike too for a play in the afternoon.
Hopefully see you there,
Si
So there you have it! Get along and get in on the action, maybe you can help to get this project up and running before spring!
Cheers Paul

Kidsgrove Freeriders have just received a further £600 from the Local Council which will enable them to build an access path which will make getting essential materials such as hardcore and wood easier to drop off directly at the Bike Park!
24th January's Build went well dispite the appalling weather, more was done on the Big step down and a better lip added to the existing double near the top which the new step down jumps over! Any new news and I will add as soon as I know it! As always Your help is greatly needed to help get this already excellent Bike park built even quicker! So if you can spare an hour or two then keep an eye on this news page for up and coming build dates!

Once again there is a big Build day on Sunday coming (24th January) at Bathpool Bike Park in kidsgrove, it's the 1st build day of the new year and Kidsgrove Freeriders could do with all the help they can get, remember the sooner the trails are built the sooner they can be ridden, and with all the wet weather we've been having the ground should be nice and sweet for building on..... All ready to be ridden come the dry(er) Spring/Summer! Digging usually starts at around 10am so get along and if you have a Shovel and Rake and wheel Barrow or any of the three then bring it along and be a part of something exciting and have your say in what is built and where! all the guys are super friendly and welcoming so you'll fit right in!

Big Build day again This Sunday coming (13/12/09) digging starts at 10am please help by getting along, bring a Barrow and Shovel/ Spade/ Rake etc if you can? Plans for this weekend are to finish off the step-down gap jump and build a path from the step-down to the Beast and new big gap jump, then dig out a drainage ditch for the new Beast landing berm, also the council should hopefully be dropping off some hardcore to be laid down and compacted into the trail surface to help make it all weather!

With a sum of £500 fresh from the Council, Kidsgrove freeriders were enabled to get the digger in again to help to move along the bigger projects, in just a few hours a huge amount of earth was sculpted into a new landing for the 'Beast' which is currently Bathpool Bike parks biggest feature! There were around 7-8 riders who turned up to help out with the build on the day, and at around 11:45am a reporter/photographer from the Sentinal news paper (staffordshire and Cheshire's Local Rag) turned up to get a few shots of the build and get some info on a story he is doing on the project! All good news for Kidsgrove Freeriders, the more publicity the Park gets the more riders find out about it the quicker it will get built (with your help obviously) you get the picture.... so why not follow this link to Kidsgrove Freeriders on facebook and join the group!
As well as the digger work going on, work started on the new line that Si Davies (Kidsgrove Freeriders Chairperson) had so eloquently sketched out on a bit of paper, the line will start on a wooden platform then drop down to a couple of smaller jumps, then into a small hip-jump leading down to a big step-down/gap jump that will step-down over a smaller step-down that is part of another existing line, then it will cross the original line again and will split off either right towards the Beast or left to what will become the new 20-30 foot gap or table top jump! Plans are to move the existing Dirt jumps across to the right to make room for the new Big Gap/Table top jump. Nothing is finalised yet and will probably mutate as it goes along and go with whatever works best!
At present the surface of a fair portion of the newer lines is Clay based and therefore very slippery and hard to ride in the winter (Easy and fast in the summer) But with a promise of some hardcore materials from the Council it will eventually be rideable all weather, also the 'Beast' and skinny SeeSaw have been chicken wired to give more grip in wet weather and there are plans for chicken wire to be added to the Wallride dish that is currently unrideable once wet!
Si Davies (Chairperson) or Liam Murphy (Treasurer) will be posting up Build days on the Kidsgrove Freeriders facebook site when build days are coming up so please keep an eye out on there or on this Kidsgrove freeriders News page! Why not get involved, and be a part of the Newest Mountain Bike Freeride Scene in North Staffordshire!
The Digger making light work of the earth moving 9am Sunday 22nd Nov 09
Si, Sam and Tim carrying wood to the site of the new huge step-down gap jump,
take off will
be top right where the light wooded handles of the hole diggers are sticking
up, and landing will be
around where the fresh dark dirt is by Si's feet!
The Landing for the Beast finished in double quick time 11am, weather........still pouring with rain!
